Where is the PCV on 304?

I bought all the stuff for a tuneup and I for the life of me can't find the PCV..its a 75 CJ5. The parts book didn't go that far back, so I just looked up another year 304..anyways, I scoured the engine and couldn't find one. Maybe someone took it out.

I did find that the vacuum line from the distributor was broken and where it goes into the carb had a golf tee in it. I reatached it..at least I'm hoping thats where it was supposed to go...and the ting idles much smoother now.

Anyways..if anyone can help out with the PCV please do..

Re: Where is the PCV on 304?

There should be a larger diameter hose coming off the Driver side of teh carb at the base. this goes back and into the intake.... actually it goes into the PCV which in turn goes into the intake.

Re: Where is the PCV on 304?

There should be a 1/2"diam. hose off the driver or passenger side valve cover that goes to the back of the carb base. This should be attached to the PCV and it will be a 90* style. I know on my 360 it's located in the rear of the passenger side valve cover but can be on either side of motor front or back depending on year.

Yep in the valve cover on the passenger side rear. We are talking about the PCV and NOT the EGR right?

Positive Crankcase Ventilation

Lets the oil pan breathe with out losing oil. A type of check valve on the crankcase (oilpan) pulls a postive vacuum to vent any gases and psi build up.

I've never seen an AMC V8 with anything in the valve covers either. The stock PCV intake is the oil fill cap and the PCV valve is on the back of the intake manifold in a rubber grommet.
