PLEASE STOP YELLING AT US!!!

J.E.E.P. stands for

Put on the ones you like. There is no added value in the special edition Jeeps. Change what you want on them, build it for the kind of wheeling you want to do.

Re: LEVI STRAUSS CJ7- REWORK OR REBUILD????HELP

I've got a 350, and from experience, I'd say either rebuild the 304 or get an AMC 360. Either is by far and away cheaper, and less of a headache down the road. Don't get me wrong, I love the power of my 350. But a mildly wormed 304 has more than enough power for a Jeep, and doesn't tend to break thinks nearly as often. If you decide on the motor swap, keep in mind the hidden expenses. Of course you know about needing an adapter, but also think about clutch, cooling, ignition, wiring, motor mounts, possible drive line length changes (just because the motor will fit where the old one is, doesn't make it the best spot), etc... Also keep in mind that factory Jeep components do not tend to hold well behind 350's (eg. axles and tranny's). Just my .02. Good luck w/ whatever you decide.

Fill out your profile so we can get an idea where you are, how much jeepin experiance you have and what your skills are like. I'd do a lot of searching and reading on the net before you decide to do a whole swap. Since you have an 81 you have a dana 300 which is a relativly strong t-case and can stand up to a fair amout of power, especially if you upgrade the output shaft.
