is a D44 a D44????

ive been searching for R&P gears and locker/spool for a 87' XJ D44 i picked up for my TJ....ive found some good prices but i noticed they where on a bronco website.....my ? is, is a D44 the same (gears & carrier) out of a ford or jeep ........also if anyone has a good sorce for prices id be thankfull

Unless it's for a HP D44 Ford front axle. The carrier should be the same, but gearsets won't work as they're reverse rotation.

Did you call DC? [img]images/graemlins/chair.gif[/img]

i just finished doing a search and found on page 36 a comment from 'toad that a d44 has the same chunk...its just the shafts and tubes are diffrent length.....so i guess im going to order some gears soon.... [img]images/graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

cheep gears can bite you in the butt later on. Buy quality gears and you'll only have to do it once vs. a bunch of time with crappy gears. Depending on the ratio you want finding a set of junk yard spicer gears may be a better bet than buying cheep forgin gears.
