Re: what would b better?

well the 4 cylinder comes with 4.10's, I wouldnt go any bigger than 32's with stock gearing.
as for MPG they are going to be about the same.

please be polite and fill out your profile so we can beter answer your questions as for drivability on road the 4.0 beats the snot out of the 2.5 off road however it depends on what terrain in the mud i would take the 4.0 on the rocks i would take the 2.5 if you wheel both then i would go with the 4.0 just my opinion i have a 304 v8 in my cj5

Re: what would b better?

For starters, you can forget about highway speed with the 2.5L you will be lucky to turn tires past 60 MPH using 33s. Add a lift and you increase the wind resistance of an already highly resistant vehicle and your just asking to be run over.

My suggestion, go with a 4.0L get 31" tires. Wheel with it and improve your skills in driving, Then go bigger.

I run 31s on my 2.5 and believe me it sucks, there are others on this board who run bigger on the same setup, they can tell you more.

As for better size? go for better tread and then decide what size.
