Part Identification

hi there

i need some help identifiying a part

it is located attached to the valve cover of my 82 cj7. it hangs off to the passenger side. it is cylindrical in shape. it has a hose running from it to (or to it from) the pulley above the power steering pump (does that make in sense?).

it should have another hose running to (or from it) someplace else and i can't figure out to what else it hooks up to.

i hope that's somewhat comprehendable and that someone can help me out.

if not, thanks for thinking about it!!

patrick

Re: Part Identification

While of no help to you (just a bump to the top if nothing else), I know I had it on mine many moons ago. I know it was something that I ditched and pitched.
I guess I'm replying because I can see it in my head, but can't remember what the heck it was. And now I'm going to blame you for my lack of sleep.

Re: Part Identification

I think you are talking about the diverter valve for the air injection system.
They call it the "bypass valve" in this diagram.
