shortening/resplineing axles (seals)
I am in the middle of my (front) chevy Dana 44 swap and was woundering what others did to the seal surface on the axles near the pumpkin end of the axles. My axles neck down after the splines before going back to full size about 3" from the end of the shaft. The original seal surface is a little smaller then the shaft it self. What have others done about this and do I need to have a new seal surface machined onto the shaft when they are shortened and resplined.
