Semi OT - video of Hummer H2 offroad breaking

Here is the link, slow but worth it: It is a brief video of an H2 Rockcrawling (VERY mild) and breaking under light pedal.

Is it me, or did it seem to break really easy? My CJ7 would stand up to WAAAY more abuse than that.

Ive always hated H2s
Marketing genius though, to convince the general public that it is a off road machine.
Too heavy, too tall, too long.

Not knocking the real hummers, but the H2 stinks.

If you notice all of their advertising on TV and Mags always shows the Hummer on flat level turf.

Even GM knows it can't go off road.

I don't dislike the H2 really. I agree it is nothing more than a Tahoe with a big price tag, but it supports the theory that people can buy and drive whatever the hexx they want.

I suppose if you have the money, it is just a dressed up SUV. Personal taste I guess, I certainly don't have that kind of dough.

Re: Semi OT - video of Hummer H2 offroad breaking

I'll try to find some still shots of it - The Jeepster club did the Rubicon trail last year and on the way down cadillac hill we ran into the GM test crew with the new H2's which could not make it up cadillac hill. These H2's got hammered, high centered, lost sway bars, bumpers, and had dents in the doors chest level.

anyways, I video taped them getting stuck attempting cadillac hill, they got mad!! We simply said that if you want to get off the trail we will winch you up, but we will video it. Your choice.

Of course we winched them up one by one, but before we had to secure the Jeepsters together and to a huge tree so those H2's would pull us down Cadillac hill. It was really funny.

Re: Semi OT - video of Hummer H2 offroad breaking

Further proof that IFS has NO PLACE on a 4x4. Think about it...that thing has to have AT LEAST 7 steering joints. pitman arm, idler arm, idler arm to frame pivot, two inner tie rod ends and two outer tie rod ends. My solid front axle has...4. Twice the moving parts is twice the chance for carnage. Especially on a $50,000+ tahoe. GM will never see a dime of my money! Maybe some day, they will see the light! LONG LIVE THE SOLID FRONT AXLE! Lucky for us, Dodge, Jeep, and Ford still understand...for now!
