Re: need help with t-15

They are very easy to rebuild. Just dig in. Get your small parts kit and go to town. Watch how it comes apart. Ive done several for friends. Or replace with T18

Re: need help with t-15

Dex no it will not bolt up. and yes it is Waayyyyyy better. it would require a new B/H and some driveline mods.
Its used in light trucks all the way up into 2 ton trucks and has the 6:1 granny gear(if ya get the right one) There is tons of info on this tranny on this board.

Re: need help with t-15

doesn't the t-18 does use the same bellhousing as a t-15. (the crappola three speed used in cj's behind a 304)
I just put a t-18 in my jeep after I split the two piece t-15 shaft into 3 pieces... didn't work for some reason after that, dunno why

Instead of using three bolts and a stud, I used 4 bolts, and just ground the head flat on one side of the bolt and stuck it through from the bellhousing side. You do have to grind the clutch fork a wee bit, but ten seconds with a sawzall and file and your good to go. You do have to round up new shafts, but if you live anywhere other than alaska that should be no biggie. The other problem I ran into was the torque arm. No matter how I tried I couldn't adapt the t-15 to a t-18 arm. Being a cheap SOB that I am, I ended up using a chunk of old grader blade, an old leaf spring bushing, a couple old body mounts, and a bolt, well you can see where I am going with that.....

I could be wrong here, but are the t-15 and t-150 one and the same?? I have a 77 cj5 that used to have the three speed, which tranny was it??

It was a T-150. They stopped putting T-15's in after 1975.
