Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

well i've been doing a lot of research and i've finally decided to lift the jeep. everyone i talk to says that the rubicon express 4" standard suspension kit is a great kit to buy and it rides way better than stock. that is my first option, because i found it for a good price at dc four wheel drive. i also have found the 3" rough country on ebay for $488, and that includes shipping. the guy on ebay is also throwing in a steering stablizer with the kit. my questions are, to whoever has these kits: how good is the ride? how good is the flex? which is worth the price.....rubi express is about $700. thanks to everyone in advance.

I have the Rough Country 3" on my yj and love it. Good ride and great flex 2 years old and no saging that I can tell. 389.00 at Rough Country.com

Re: Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

the Rubicon express standard kit uses the pro comp springs which most say ride ruff. ( I'm not saying they are bad)

the Extreme duty RE kit uses a different spring. and I even got a compliment from a non jeep person in regards to how smooth it is on the freeway.

My 2cents is that you get a kit that comes with sway bar disconnects. If the kit doesn't come with em, then add in that cost.

Re: Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

I'm running the $389 RC lift. Overall I'm satisfied, although I can tell you that their customer service is absolutely bogus, I had to harass them to get any useful info out of them... The kit rides *very* *very* stiff..... You get what you pay for in the end. It's a functional kit, just not as comfy as some of the other more expensive ones.

Re: Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

hey speed buggy, look at their website again. yes the kit itself is 550, but it doesn't come with the drop pitman arm, which is going to be about another 60 or 70. then they want to charge 113.something for shipping. overall, dc is giving a waaay better deal, and i overestimated, it's probably more like 650 from him.

Re: Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

Skyjacker makes a good soft ride kit not sure where their price comes in though. I have no complaints on the one I got for my CJ 15 years ago a few other board members run them too. If I was to buy another lift I wouldn't even look around I'd go Skyjacker.

Re: Lift Choices-need opinions!!!!

Just trying to look out for a fellow jeeper.

Sorry, I had no way off knowing that DC is throwing in a drop pitman arm. That, definitely sweetens the deal.
