Starter Shim Thickness Recommendations

Any recommendations on which shim thickness to begin with on a Dana 30 new locker install in my '81 CJ8? I'm installing a new locker in front to replace the old stock open carrier. The old stock carrier had 2.72 ratio on it, and the new is 3.73 on the locker. Since the shims go behind the bearings, and the risk inherent in removing them to change the shims, what would you recommend to start with for shim thickness?

Re: Starter Shim Thickness Recommendations

I looked in the install instructions I got with my Yukon gears, and they say to use original shims if possible, and if not, like in your case, to consult the spec sheet for a starting size. I either didn't get one of those, or I have lost it since (most likely)

I am guessing you didn't get a table with helpful numbers on it??? My best guess would be to call the company, or if you live in an area thats got a gear shop, call em up and see what they reccomend.
