OT Bought a tow rig (PIG) Now with picture

Well a buddy of mine comes over to the house yesterday while I am cleaning the garage and he has just come from a guys house that buys alot of old trucks and parts them out. He says that this guy just bought a 1979 Crew Cab (4 door) Dually Chevy with the silverado package. Paint is pretty rough and it has some rust but it's not a northern truck. So I go look at it and drive it and it runs great no smoke (454) and tranny shifts fine tires have decent tread.... So after a little negotiating to where the price was more to my liking I have a tow rig again......
I really bought it for the crew cab cause it is alot bigger than my tent (ask Aaron)....
Now with picture....

Good find. I know most of those trucks don't fit into the pretty category, but at least you know what you've got. And you can fix it when it breaks.

Re: OT Bought a tow rig (PIG)

Here is your picture.... Almost as long as a extended cab ford ranger and a xj..... It rides smooth as silk up to 75 (fastest I got it up so far). I do think the carrier bearing might need greased and a good servicing done to the whole truck but it is mechanically (seemingly at least) in very good shape...

That thing makes "Ridgie" look like a toy. Put gas in it yet?
I remember getting fuel once for my Suburban, and a local democrat saw what the total fuel bill was... He looked at his partner and said, "Man... I can get an outfit for that much..."
I had to laugh... $55 for a fill-up.
Enjoy,
Ricky...seeya...

Re: OT Bought a tow rig (PIG)

when does the 500hp 502 get dropped in so you can plant the 454 in the jeep???
I am sure not a fan of newer chevys, but man the 86 and older are awesome and I have always (and still do) love chevy engines.

Just don't sell your jeep parts to cover gas!
