Powertax locker broke in Tacoma, what about Jeep?

Around Christmas of last year I put a powertax lockrite in my Tacoma, well today my rear end siezed up and tow truck guy says it was from my locker, he has heard of the powertrax doin this before. He really didn't sound like he knew what he was talkin about. So does it sound like the locker went out, and if so I have the same kind for my JY sittin in the garage waitin for me to put it in. Should I send her back and get a diferent locker. No rush with puttin her in. I just don't wanna have to buy the ARB and the compressor. To much for what I wanna spend. Kinda a long drawn out story for a stupid question. But thanks for the 0.02's everybody.

From what I've heard, there's two ways the powertrax lockright can fail. The stock cross shaft can shear or the stock carrier can break through the cross shaft holes. Either of these can lock up the rear end. Only way to find out is to remove the 3rd member and see what happened. Most likely you'll need a new gear set too. Post pictures when you get it apart.

I broke a Powertrax in my YJ's D30. It would catch and release repeatedly while driving, never knew if it would pull both wheels or just one.
