\'76-78 CJ brake pedal measurment request

I'm working on my '68 jeepster, my disk brake conversion has a "hard" pedal.

If someone has a '76 to '78 CJ, with disk brakes, without a power brake booster, would you please be so kind as to measure your brake pedal.

I'm looking for the measurments X and Y shown on this attached picture.
Thank you very much, Thom

Re: \'76-78 CJ brake pedal measurment request

I'm pretty sure no '76 had disc brakes, but mine are converted to discs, using rotors and spindles from an '84. I do not have power assist.

I just measured mine for you and I've got: x=17" and y=3"

I'm happy with the way they feel and work.

My old '76 CJ-7 had discs up front.

Re: \'76-78 CJ brake pedal measurment request

I stand corrected!

At least I said "pretty sure." I had it written more positively than that, then went back and corrected it because I didn't know it for a fact. You can trust the measurements I reported though... They are fact!

Few things get on my nerves more than someone stating as fact what they only know through hearsay.

Thanks jamgood.

Thanks CJclay
I don't get why my brakes feel hard My jeepster brake pedal has the exact same measurments.
I was hoping an easy solution would pop up (like the ratio would be larger than 6:1) instead of the same old 5.6:1 I have now.
Here is a pic of my toy this spring before I decided to tear apart everything for a tilt column Thom

Re: \'76-78 CJ brake pedal measurment request

On my '78 it looks more like 17" & 2 1/2", but it's pretty difficult to see up there. Stock with unassisted heavy-duty brakes.

Jim, That sounds better, thanks
Your pedal works out to 6.8:1.
Even if your off 1/4", it's still 6.2:1
I think I'll play with changing the pedal first.
Thanks again. Thom
