O/T Peppers part II

Evil Cayenne peppers. Picked, cleaned and waiting to be dried and crushed.
Just finally started to turn red. This is the first batch of these. ( I have jalapeños and habernaro's coming out the ying yang)

Reminds me of the Johnny Cash song "Ring of Fire"...all I have to say is...COME ON ICE CREAM!

Happens to me too. Preparation H helps, but time is the only real cure.

Do you pick your jalapenos green or let them ripen?

Always green. It keeps the skin from becoming like leather.

I like the flavor of them when they ripen. I'm a tough old bird myself, so I never noticed the leathery skin.

Re: O/T Peppers part II

My wife and I made some hot sauce using Datil peppers that I grew. The sauce is so hot that it makes me sneeze and my eyes water just to smell it. Hapernars are supposed to be hotter, but I think the datil will give them some competition. The dryer is a good idea for peppers that I had never thought of.
