NP231 with auto?

I'm selling my NP231 on eBay, and have gotten a couple of question. Here's one of them:

"i hava a jeep wrangler with a chevy 350 conversion. the np231 transfercase with a automatic 350 turbo tranny is going bad and needs to be replaced. will this transfer case work with my application."

So will this tcase work with that setup? I assume it'd need an adapter? What about a standard Jeep auto tranny?

I know, I know.... pick me, pick me

Lower your reserve to $275 and you wont have to worry about it.

Re: NP231 with auto?

The question is: Your (the guy asking) NP231 being Jeep already has an adapter to mount to the 350 Turbo. If you have the NP231 Chevy type (is there one?) You will not have the adapter and the ebay NP231 will NOT fit.

Re: NP231 with auto?

i tried $280.01. sorry james that is my final offer.

FYI, your 231 is only set up for the AX15 5 spd. it will not work with the other transmissions. but it can be reconfigured with a new input gear. you got two variables, input shaft length (flush or stick out) and spline count(21 or 23).

no the jeep autos the input gear length is wrong
no the AX5 or BA10 the spline count is wrong.

Re: NP231 with auto?

Well, it's not THAT close to $275 The reserve is actually set at $300, which I think is very fair for this case. Just out of curiousity, if you bid $280.01, how come it is still at $152? Thanks for the tips on the applications. I new it wouldn't work with a 4cyl/AX5, and I put that in the listing. As for the auto, I didn't know, but now I do. Thanks again!

Re: NP231 with auto?

The guy is now wanting to know what the difference is between a Chevy and Jeep NP231? Is there an easy way to tell? Is the bolt pattern different? Basically, he's got a YJ with a 350 engine conversion. I'd tend to think he's got a Jeep NP231. Any tags he could look at and see?
