dana 44 swap
Ok so I am getting ready to do this axle swap and I have read a few articles on getting rid of the bolt on lock out and converting it to the ford type. so here is my plan/question. I use the dana 30 knuckle (for steering purposes) and the ford spindle and hub (or can I use the scout spindle with the ford hub). heres my question do I need to use the ford stub shaft or will the scout stub shaft work. doesnt realy matter to me I have both. also with this configuration what brake caliper do I use the ford, the scout caliper, or the dana 30 caliper....

All ford parts are 1984

Re: dana 44 swap
I could be wrong but..
The Dana 30 knuckle has a 3 bolt spindle and the ford should have a 5 or 6 bolt..

If your going to go to a Dana 44 up front you want all the 1/2ton stuff steering and all.. dont skimp and keep your 1/4 ton tie-rod ends...

Just my $.02

How about giving us a little more information. What dana 30? CJ, YJ, what?

On the same subject, I have a scout 44 ('77) It needs a rotor and probably new calipers both sides. Short of replacing the whole outer, is there a rotor that will bolt on to the scout spindle???
