D35 w/ alloys, and Dietroit on 33\'s

I get the destinction and privilage to ask about a D35....

John, (WHTTRASH on this board) asked if I would post a question for him since he's at another office location and can't log in here.

Anyway, He's taking his TJ to Dixie Run @ Tellico. He's wondering about his D35 holding up. he's running Alloy axles, detroit Soft-Lock or No-slip ( I thought they were the same ) with 4.56's and 33 MTR's. He's wondering if it's gonna hold up. Oh ya, 4 popper and stock Tranny and T case. I think he'll be fine, he's just a bit of a worry wart

I've watched him smoking all fours... OK three since he's not locked up front, on a few things that he was worried about. He kept his orginal axles just incase he needed as trail spares. So that leads to a second question.

If he should blow and axle shaft, what might he need to swap one out?

All I can think ofis:

1. gear oil
2. silicone
3. long magnet to pull the axle shaft out.. or some one with a stick welder..
4. Tools to do the job.

thanks

Re: D35 w/ alloys, and Dietroit on 33\'s

Well, I think it all depends on how hard he is with it. My gut feeling is no if he's aggressive at all. I snapped a rear axle shaft in a bone stock TJ with a 4cyl on stock tires in the snow in 4low with no tires stuck...so what's that say about the D35? Now I know he's got alloy shafts, but that just means the R&P will let go. If he plays nice, he probably won't have a problem though. But next time someone you know wants to slap upgrade parts into a D35, remember...

He wheels it, and will give just about anything a shot, but he also isn't too proud to take a strap or a by-pass after a few attempts.

i think he'll be fine... if not he's gonnna have a spare axle shaft with him. I'm more concerned about the tube than the shaft anyway...

"New" springs are a must before Tellico....besides, somebody stole *your* duct-tape at URE

You can always pull a plug wire to keep that massive 4cyl Briggs & Stratton from twistin' off one of those toothpick axles
