72 cj-5 gas gauge problem

Just lately my gas gauge has been going goofy.It will show empty than 1/2 tank than full.It has a mind of it's own.What can I do to fix this?

It's most likely losing the ground. Check the ground wire connections at the tank and on the frame. Be careful, the sender could be pretty rusty and you might break the tab for the ground wire clean off. [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
