intake manifold heater element on 258

Hello,

I am doing a recarnation of my 86 cj7, the bottom of the original intake heater element is rust out. I want to replace it so I know it works but I can't find a source. I called Jeep and they said I am out of luck.

Any ideas?

Re: intake manifold heater element on 258

Try looking at the wrecking yard for other amc products having a 258, such as eagles, concords, etc. As long as they have the aluminum intake, they should have the same element. I know in 1980 they didn't have the element, so I'm not sure what year they started using it.

Re: intake manifold heater element on 258

My manifold heater has not worked for 4 years. I simply re-sealed it and cut the wires.

Warmup takes a little longer, but only by maybe 30 seconds to a minute (I have FI, which needs quicker warmup). The simplicity to me is worth it. I know of others who have also done this with success.
