Intake/Header today, MC2100 adapter ? (again)

I've had the 2100 on for a a while now. Cracked the old cast iron exhaust manifold. Bought dual outlet header and found an aluminum factory intake. I want to blend the aluminum intake to better match the adapter and larger size of the 2100. When I look at it, it seems that I have a lot to play with. I'm thinking that I can remove the entire center section and make the opening one large rectangular opening. More flow = more power!

What do you guys think? I don't want to take too much off or mess up fuel air mixture. But all that should be taken care of by the carb and I don't see any internal castings in the intake that look as if they control flow or direction. Here's a rough idea of what I'm talkin about. Any input is appreciated.

that'll be just fine, dont think it will make too big of a difference as it is a single plane intake anyway.

just make sure and wash all the shavings out!

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up blending the intake about a third of the way down. Turned out OK I think.
