How 2 secure mounting brackets 2 aluminum radiator

I am working to replace the old brass two core radiator that (offset filler neck, 1.5" OD inlet & outlet necks) was in my 85 CJ8 which used to have a 4.2 but now has the 4.0 motor. I am wondering if I can take off the mounitng bracket that is on the old two core brass radiator and graft it somehow on the aluminum radiator? How does the braket come off the old radiator and how could I best mount the bracket to the aluminum? Should I consider a totally different approach to mounting the aluminum radiator? Thanks D.

Re: How 2 secure mounting brackets 2 aluminum radiator

I just took some 1/8`` x1 1/2`` flat strip and bent it to where I could put a bolt through the radiator and then through the jeep. I put two on top and two on bottom. I can e-mail you a couple of pics if you would like. Tried to post them but it said the file was to big or something.

Re: How 2 secure mounting brackets 2 aluminum radiator

The brackets on most brass/copper radiators that attach to the tanks are soft soldered in place. I would not
attempt to "Graft" the old bracket to the aluminum rad. if that means trying to attach it in some way to the
tanks. There should be some mounting flanges that run parallel with the tubes on your aluminum radiator.
Thats where you should be trying to mount it from.
