bump steer on a TJ?
I had a 4" suspension lift (3" leaves + 1" shackles) on my old YJ, and I had terrible bump steer. It got to the point where I would literally be jerked into other lanes of traffic and off the side of the road, even at low speeds. I thought this was only a problem on shackle/leaf sprung vehicles because of caster. However, I recently read a post from a guy who said he had bad bump steer on his TJ with a 4" SkyJacker, which, incidentally, is what I was planning on getting. I didn't think TJs would have this problem because of how the geometry was set up, but maybe I was just being optimistic. Anyhow, this throws some serious concerns my way, because I have had my fill of being tossed around the road like a dingy on the ocean...it's scary. I know it's "just a Jeep," but safety should always be an issue, especially for me, since it's a street Jeep mainly. Just wanted your feedback on TJ bump steer with suspension lifts, and how to combat the problem.
I'm also planning on adding .75" coil spacers to compensate for any sagging. Anything wrong with that?
