YJ hood vent

the hood vent in my 92 YJ opens fine when i turn on the heat or vent, but won't close when i turn it off. is there something electrical that closes the vent or does it close with the cable. when it stays open, water leaks through the dash into the passenger side floorboard.

There should be a drain hole inside it, its probaly clogged up with mud and debris...

It isn't really a drain plug, it's just a hole that exits through the firewall to the right of your battery.

YJs and CJs are notorious for giving you wet feet, however usually this isnt due to some vent like you are thinking....its the seal of the widshield....the cowl seal.... the water will sometimes leak into or over the heater area, so its easy to confuse them.....

it make look intact but still leak a bunch, had that on my CJ and my buddy had it on his YJ.

did you triple check where the water is coming from or guess?

Another spot to check is your wiper washer hoses. They tend to crack and leak into the dash.
