Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

Hey people, I'm looking at a possible Job opportunity in the Sleepy little town of Forest City, NC. about half way between Charlotte and Asheville on NC74. just wondering if anyone is over that direction.... I'd suck to move away from the Jeepers I've met in this area.. but the way I look at it, is I'm a pretty good over night stay location for a shorter drive into... say... TELICO! Well Brent, I'm in Charlotte, but Lirpasue has an uncle in Forrest City so we're there occasionally. Looks like a nice little town. What the heck is there, job wise? lol

Re: Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

Ya, when i first pulled the City's website up and started reading thru it I wondered how th heck I found a job like this in a SMALL town of only like 8K or so people...

but there is a major company that for some reason or another has an office there doing the same design work that I'm doing now. and apparently they have some DEEP pockets I sure wouldn't mind doing the same job for Mucho more in a small mountain town Closer to Trout fishing and there's gotta be some trails around there somewhere

Re: Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

Brent,
I live above Asheville. Don't do any wheeling right now as my Jeep is on life support (hopefully that will change), but I know of a few hiking/biking trails, and cool places to camp. Just got back from a camping & mountain bike trip to Tsali at Fontana Lake, and I usually make a trip to Linville every year.

When I can get away, I'm always up for some camping, be it roadside redneck drunk-fests, or backpacking in a few miles...

Brent,
I've lived in Forest City most of my life. You're right, it is somewhat of a sleepy little town, but I like the small town perks (went to college in Raleigh - loved the social life but hated the traffic). I'd be glad to talk to you about it (we could even talk Jeeps a little bit). Just PM me.

Re: Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

You would be close to Hickory.
Hickory is close to Blowing Rock - Sight Seeing, Trails, Shopping...
Blowing Rock is close to Boone - Skiing, Sight seeing, Blue Ridge Parkway, and more trails...
Plus you would be close to Tennesee and Tellico.

Re: Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

Clsest public trail is Brown Mtn. orv park. (Small, but a trail nonetheless) It is between Morganton and Lenoir.(55 miles)
After that, there is Richlands Gap and the Globe around Blowing Rock,(65 miles)
And lots more in Boone.(80 miles)

Re: Anybody live near Forest City, NC?

Cool, that's more than I have around here... URE about 70-80 miles.... We'll have to hook up if I move out there, and it's looking like a pretty good possibility of it too.
