Bantam(replica) jeep trailer

My Cousin looked for a month to find one of these things. he found several, but when asking the owners if they wanted to sell it, "NO" was the answer. So we took some measurements and built one. here are some of the before paint pics. What are your opinions? here is the link to the pics bantam pics

This is made from .125 5052 aluminum and will have stainless fasteners with the dielectric tape between body and frame. Anything else we need?

Re: Bantam(replica) jeep trailer

Wayyyyy cool ! I've got an M-416 (not the M-100 that your's is modeled after) and your trailer is way nicer than my original. The tub's on all of these military trailers are usualy junk, but the frames are good.

Think about making aluminum replacement tubs/fenders ( for the M-100 & M-416 too) that will bolt onto military frames. they will sell!

Are you really going to paint it? I didn't think paint stuck to aluminum well. I think just a brushed or a polished finish would be neat.

Re: Bantam(replica) jeep trailer

Very nice! I have one of the smaller trailers but it doesnt have a body on it now, too much rust. I have been thinking about bending one up for it and that is some serious inspiration.

Re: Bantam(replica) jeep trailer

Hey Smokngun, I paint aluminum 5-6 days a week, thats no problem here. He wants it OD green. The only bad part is he will be towing it with a Suzuki Sammy. Although he does own a CJ6 which he is also doing a ground up restoration on. With a 4.3L and 700R4
