Rubicon injectors

For the 4.0 in the Rubicon - are matched sets of injectors available somewhere? Where?

I'm trying to eek out a few more ponies in it.

Somewhere I read about using 5.0 Mustang injectors in something but didn't pay attention then. Was this in the 4.0? I know you can get flow matched injectors for Mustangs.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Rubicon injectors

Rich search on the mid sized board for the Mustang injector swap. It is a common upgrade over there, but I dont think it does anything for the newer 4.0s, just the earlier ones but its been a while since I read about it so I could be wrong? Have you gotten rid of the stock airbox yet, thats supposed to free up a few.

Re: Rubicon injectors

Ahh, that's where I saw it I guess. Thanks.
The fallacy of the Mustang injectors is they give more fuel, but the ECM just shortens the open time - no gain. But - Matched Mustang injectors are available all over.
Getting all injectors to have the same flow rate can really help if they were off to begin with - you never know till you match them up. Since the computer only "sees" the average O2, unmatched injectors can cause some cylinders to be too lean while others are too rich, affecting power and mileage. The "average" is right, but none are where they should be. Getting them all pulling together can make a big difference.

Yes, airbox is gone - now a straight through with a K&N. It's not a huge difference, but you can feel it - so that means at least 4 hp gain, below that you can't "feel" it.
Rumor is they are noisey -- you can hear it, but not very well.

Small Throttle body spacer goes in this afternoon, supposed to add another 3-5 hp.
Watch out about the spacers - some are promoted as having a helix bore. The helix swirl cut works on carburetors and throttle body injection where fuel is intoduced into the swirling air, but not on port fuel injection. On PFI the swirling actually can slow down/restrict airflow.

Anybody know who has direct replacement "matched" 4.0's?

Thanks again.

Re: Rubicon injectors

the OBDII (97+) injectores are larger than the stock ford 5.0 injectors by 2 #. My stroker desperately needs larger injectors, but I cant find any matches for under $225.(ford motor sports) Some of the folks on the stroker board are getting together and buying the injectors together. You get 8 of them.. it stands to reason 4 people could split the cost of 3 sets.
I'ts just not going to happen for mine for awhile. I dont race the jeep anymore and I dont need the higher rpm power when rockcrawling or driving around town.
