All you have to do is remove the nuts from the bottom of the hinge pin, and remove the little limiting straps that keep the doors from flying all the way open. They should lift off...but if you don't lift straight it'll be hard.

If they have never been removed spray some liquid wrench on there a few times and try again the next day. When you install them again spray some silcone on there or wd40? I use silcone I think it works better. IMHO.

While lifting up on the door swing it back an forth, but be carefull when the pins are about to come out of the hinge or you'll smack yourself in the face with a door (guess how I found out)

Re: removing doors on a tj

1. The hinge pins can oxidize and
2. Other matter can cause removal difficult.
3. To get the doors off try the following:
4. Cut a length of 2X4 to fit between a floor jack and the bottom of the door frame.
5. Open the door to a 25* angle.
6. Put the 2X4 as close to the front of the door's frame (not on the lip) as possible.
7. Start to slowly raise the jack.
8. At the same time add good lubericant applied to the hinge, helps a lot.
9. As you lift the door, the Jeep weight loosens the hard door.
10. When you've got the door out use some scotch brite,
11. To burnish the hing pins and the inside of the hinge loop.
12. Apply some good lube to each hinge when you put the doors back on.
13. If the doors don't slide into place easily,
14. Then you've got to loosen the hinges (on the body, and on the door) and do a full door alingment.

O.K. What about the next step, after you get the doors off and then the dome light wont go out. Whats the best way to get the dome light to go out. Take out the fuse? If so will that disable anything else?

1. There are several ways to defeat the door switch.
2. Remove the switch wiring...
3. Put a over-ride switch in series with the wiring,
4. Remove the associated fuse, # 4.
