D30 inner axle seals ??

I'm helping a buddy do some work on his Jeep (75 CJ5). We are swapping on front disc brakes, replacing all seals (leaking) , plus the frame is cracked up by the steering box and other misc repairs.

I'm just looking for tips, tricks and info on changing the inner axle seals (the ones inside the tubes by the carrier). In the 18 years I was turning wrenches I never had to change them before on a front axle but I take it you have to pull the carrier to do them or is there another way?

Yes, you have to pull the carrier to change the seals, they pull out toward it. Getting the new ones in is tough, slide a pipe in from the end of the tube, across the empty carrier and into a socket that fits the gap in the seal to drive the seal in place, use a little silicone around the outer edge of the seal.
