anyone use shims for pinion angle?

I was wondering if anyone out there has used shims for there pinion angles before. If there were any pro-cons on these shims. I have a CJ-5 with a 4 in lift and lowered the t-case and put 2 degree shims in and its still nasty.

Re: anyone use shims for pinion angle?

I used 6 deg shims on my CJ7 with RE 4.5 ED lift. I did not lower my transfer case but did use a CV driveshaft. My rear pinion is pointed just below my transfer case.

If you are not running a CV driveshaft, you should ensure that your pinion points slightly below parallel to the output of your transfer case.

You might consider switching to a CV shaft if you are having vibration problems.
