UPDATE ON PROBLEM

WellWell upon further review the binding noise seems like its more like a grinding noise. And I'm pretty sure its the transfer case becuase it only does the noise in 4wd. So does anybody know what this could be?? I'm getting really frustrated over this becuase I want to take my CJ out wheelin and I can't Any help is much appreciated. THANKS

Re: UPDATE ON PROBLEM

Does it grind going into gear? While its in gear? When coming out of gear? When did this start to happen? Checked for any leaks I pressume? How loud is this grinding noise? Is the xfer case binding at all under the load from driving?

[/ QUOTE ]1. Don't get frustrated.
2. That sells more cheap Jeeps than anything else but a wife on the warpath.
3. The Dana300's gears are always turning.. to drive the rear driveshaft.
4. It's only in 4WD that the front is swapped in for 4WD engagement.
5. So what you're saying is that the grind only is occurring when you need to engage the 4WD.
6. What happens when you engage 4WD with the front hubs unlocked?

Re: UPDATE ON PROBLEM

There is no problem engaging it in 4wd, however when the hubs are locked in 2hi, 4hi or lo it makes a grind while under a load. It is leaking quite a bit, so I;m going to drain it to see if there is any metal shavings.
