Goin\' to Tellico for the first time

Yep, a group of us are headed down there, will be wheelin' on Aug 1 & 2... stayin' at the tellico cabin rentals... (who are really nice people to deal with)

Any recommendations? Warnings? Our crew includes 2 - SOA CJ7s locked f&r on 35s & 36s and 2 - SUA CJ7s locked f & r on 33s

all with several years of experience.. although none of us has been to tellico...

Re: Goin\' to Tellico for the first time

It is fun!!! We went up in May, and had a blast. We had some members stay at the cabins rentals, it is RIGHT THERE!!! Only bad thing to warn you about, well it isnt so bad, but I dont think the cabins had a phone, so hopefully everyone in your party is staying there. We had two differnt areas where we stayed and had communication problems. But you will have a blast. If you are not used to mountain trails or rocks, then you will be so drained after. Much differnt than flatground (which we are used to) It is a wonderful place and you will have a great time.

Re: Goin\' to Tellico for the first time

first day go up schoolbus hill and down through squeeze rock.
this takes about 1/2 a day, so you could easliy hit upper 2 on the way back and call it a great day wheeling.
the second day... if that wasnt too bad for you guys, go up guardrail and helicopter, then down schoolbus. if this doesnt take too long, or you guys think the trails are too easy, hit lower 2. if the trails are still doable but you wanna push it, dont waste any time and head towards slickrock. if you do slickrock, expect to get back late. Lower 2 is only about 300 yards of hard stuff.
if its wet.. then try trail 5 first to get a judge of the trails.
my favorite trails are schoolbus and upper 2 (going up). both have challenging ledges (stairs). schoolbus is very steep...very very steep. guardrail is scary, but its a short winch up if you dont have pat there yelling at you. helicopter has a go-around.
wish i was going too.. they say windrock is even better, but tellico has the best trails I've seen.
dont be such a stranger mel.
ps.. get the 304 into something yet?

Chris, no the engine is still securly wrapped up in plastic in a cool, dry place.. awaiting its final destiny.. LOL

Thanks for the tips.. I will have to print that out.. REALLY lookin forward to the trip... but it doesn't look like we will get to take two jeeps unless we find a backing plate REAL SOON for Ricks rig that matches this one:

Finally got a full-cage in my jeep & rocker guards... just in time.. LOL
