Will ZJ Axle Fit On A TJ?

Will a ZJ rear axle fit on a TJ without mods? What, if any mods would need to be done to make it work? Figured if this is a bolt on deal, easy way to get rear disks.

Re: Will ZJ Axle Fit On A TJ?

watch out for the aluminum housing d-44 that came under the zj. its a SERIOUS POS and the gear/locker choices are very limited. if you really want disk brakes, grab the proportioning valve from the zj and then make brackets for eldorado calipers. Use a 83 chevy 1 ton master cylider (you have to drill the mounting holes a bit larger) and be sure to seal it to the booster air tight(silicone, big o-ring, whatever). your'e going to need some adapters, I just cut and re-flared the lines.
bottom line... its a lot more work than slapping disks on the back...and probably not worth it to most folks....I just happen to really enjoy wrenching on the jeep, so I did it.
