embeded photo\'s poll

When LEVE asked us not to embed an attachement in his Interesting places thread, it got me to thinking...I almost always come back around and embed my attachemt...some of you don't...I think it is easier to view the thread without having to constanly click the attachement tab...I realize that viewing this BBS with high speed internet helps me out with the embeded pictures and would probably slow up someones reading if they were dial up.

So which do you prefer and why:

You know you're just asking for a "I'll decide whether we'll imbed or not" response. I, too, have high-speed internet access. I'm not opposed to imbedding all the photos you want.

Re: embeded photo\'s poll

I think embedded photos are great, but I don't go to posts like "CJ pictures wanted..." when I dail-up. I think its up to the individual user to manage their connection. The good thing about embedded pictures is that they're size limited on this site, whereas if I link to another site I may be linking to pictures that may be much larger.

I like embedded photos...

Re: embedded photo\'s poll

1. Have Mercy on your poor Jeepin' brethren that are still on dial up ( me! ).
2. I asked for the attachment not to be embedded in Threads that are likely to be long...
3. Posts such as:[*] Post a picture of your YJ here[*] Post a picture of your CJ here[*] Places you've been
4. These type of Posts are somewhat archival,
5. And, if used, can get several pages long, over time.
6. Now if y'all wanna chip in and order LEVE[*] Satellite, or [*] Cable...
7. Or HIRE me... so I can afford it...
8. I'll change my vote,
9. But not till then,
10. And I'm sure there are others with dial up...

LEVE: I'd be all for hiring you, but you couldn't afford high speed internet on what both our salaries would amount to. Wish I could.

Re: embedded photo\'s poll

arent there options in the web browser for turning off pictures viewed in web pages? Maybe good for people on dial up. Also, maybe not a bad idea for the board to have an option in your personal setup to not include embedded pictures when viewing posts. ??

Re: embeded photo\'s poll

I have high speed internet access as well and I like the embedded photos. What I do not like is when they are too big and they make the page wrap, which causes the last few words of the sentence to be cut off when printed. Other than that prefer the embedded photos.

Re: embeded photo\'s poll

I use dial up due to the nature of my work. (Always in a hotel). And I prefer the embeded photos, they dont really seem to take that long to download.

Otherwise, dial up is terrible!! What is this satellite, how fast and how much? What is the coverage?
