help with stupid carter bbd please

ok, i hate this thing, was gonna trash it and go tbi, but found a 360, building the 360 so can't afford to do the tbi (plus it would be a waste), so here i am stuck with this stupid carter that i just want to hurl as far as i can and then fill it with big holes and lots of lead...

ok, enough rambling.... THE PROBLEM...

it seems as if the needle and seat is not working properly, or the floats or something. gas just keeps flowing in after the bowl is full and then of course starts pouring into the intake and everywhere else. i pulled it apart yesterday and checked everything and it all looked fine, i put it back together and it ran fine. then today it starts the same crap again.

help before i lose whats left of my mind

thanks

1. Scrap it...
2. Replace it with an MC2100.
3. And be happy!

Re: help with stupid carter bbd please

would, but i hate to waste the time/effort/money to swap carbs when i'm pulling the engine in a little while for the 360 (which already has the mc on it)

think i figured it out though...

there is a little metal hoop that slides in two iittle rails just behind the needle/seat assembly, i believe that it is there to keep the floats in line so that they don't get stuck. anyway it appeared that it was interfering with the floats reaching their top position which in turn is preventing them from seating the needle and stopping fuel from entering the bowl. i snipped about 1/16 of an inch off of each side and slipped it back into its grooves. it still keeps the floats even, but appears to allow them full travel upwards. it is working now, so lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that it continues to do so until i can come up with the money for my machine work, flywheel, and exhaust for the 360. if anyone has any other ideas or suggestions for that POS carter i'm open

personally i can't wait to get the 360 done so i can
