I am curious, I have run the 1 barrel carter, MC2100, and now have a Holley 500. I think the Holley wins hands down but the others had their merits too.

What are your favorites?

Running one on my newly built 258, and it's very nice. You're welcome to come give it a try if you like...

other .. its off of a 2 bbl 318 . Not sure what it was but it ran great ., I never should have sold that cj ....

Greetings all, speaking of carburetors, i have a 90 YJ and, as one would expect, i am having problems with the stock carb, I am pretty sure it is leaking, among other things. Does anyone know a good carb i could replace it with that is emissions legal in Ca. and would improve performance/ mileage, or just one thats legal????

I've only had the crappy Carter and an MC2100. I vote MC2100 hands down. Less than $100 in the complete swap, and I keep up with (or better) with a friend who runs Holley 390. [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

I swapped to the Webber carb and it runs fantastic. I put a CJ with an all-chevy drivetrain and 40" swampers to shame on some dirt hills. My stock YJ would zip right up them, but his 4-barrell Holley would flood out only half-way up. [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Hands Down, an MC2100 to replace the carter BBD. The Carter ran ok, for about 2 months after each rebuild.

I've used them all, Weber 32/36, MC2100, Carter BBD, and Howell EFI.
No question, the Howell is the best, but costs $$$.
The MC2100 works good if you can find some 44 jets, but it requires adapters and I pay 40$ for a rebuild kit.
The Weber is way overated and overpriced, and I don't care for the preogessive linkage.
I've found, that the best bang for your buck, is the Mr.6er Carter BBD.
I modify and sell em to everybody in my area, they are the best and cheapest carb for a 258.
I know, most people think they're junk, but properly modified, they can't be beat for off-road performance.

I have 2 of them Herb. I didn't like them because of the lack of changeable parts i.e. discharge nozzles, jets, power valves.

Dont get me wrong, I think that the MC2100 is a great carb, Holley is just my personal preference.
