Timing Chain Question

Anybody out there ever replace a timing chain? The question I got is if when I am all done with the job do I leave the tensioner locked or unlocked. I know that the spring needs to be compressed and locked, but when I decompress the spring do I lock the tensioner or leave it unlocked. Thanks

Re: Timing Chain Question

Sorry I can't read your mind , but there are a few differant jeep engines out there...
but if it is a 2.5l 4cyl. yes you release the tensioner before you put the cover back on!!!!
and did you count the links on the chain?

I''ve been working on yotas since 78 and when they are done right ya can't stop one.
but right and stock are two different things. they are great building blocks.but their build quality as of late has declined considerbly.
