HELP Buying a YJ

I got 1 response so I'm reposting with a new topic

Hey fella's,

I've talked my buddy into buying a YJ. What would be the best year for him to buy? He would like a fuel injected 4.0L and manual tranny. He plans on lifting it approx 4" with 32x11.5's

Here is the 4" RE lift that he wants

Thanks

Re: HELP Buying a YJ

YJ's from 91 on have 4.0 fuelies. The '92 models got a new rollcage. that's bout it. If he wants 4" of lift, he may have to use a slip yoke eliminator kit on the t-case in order to stop vibration (and U-joint changes with every oil change *rolleyes* LOL)

Re: HELP Buying a YJ

Why the U-Joint changes?

How about T-cases?

Were YJ's only available with a NP 231?

Re: HELP Buying a YJ

YJ's all came with the 231 TC. As stated earlier, they are FI 91 and later. The reason you may be changing u-joints every oil change is that the driveshaft angles may be too steep with a 4" lift. The only 2 cures for this are: Slip Yoke eliminator kit or dropping the TC down 1".

Re: HELP Buying a YJ

you seem a little impatient.
give it a couple of days and more people will post.

get a 91 or newer yj, you get FI
