Dana 44 BREAKAGE!!!

Alright i had just finished re working the brakes in my 72 CJ5. 3spd, 304 V8, and olive drab in color. So i started it up and got to the top of my driveway. I about stalled it so i pushed the clutch in, gave it about 1/2 throttle and let the clutch out. BAM! something busted. I thought it was the driveshaft, but it wasnt, so maybe an axle shaft?, nope. After putting it in 4wd (it wouldnt move in 2) and driving it home with a loud banging and cracking sounds. I pulled off the diff cover and what else but the diff case(looks like a cylinder) thats about a 1/2inch thick is in about 3 pieces now. So i talked to a friend of mine that builds rear ends for a living and he said it would be cheaper to buy a axle out of a wrecked jeep than it would be to fix it. But the worst part was that i was on the way to the place where i was going to park it with a for sale sign on it. What luck...

So if anyone knows where a Dana 44 w/ 3.73 gears is, somewhere near Gainesville GA, please get back to me. There is a Jeep junkyard in Cleveland GA somewhere but im not sure where so if you know where that is please get back to me.

By the way- its for sale for 1800.00 (w/ a new rearend)
Or 1400.00 w/ a broked axle center. The body is in bad condition (very rusty) but it is mechanically sound except for the rearend. Runs very good. V8, 3spd, OD Green, lots of new parts.

My buddy north of Knoxville probably has several narrowtrac D44s with 3.73s. You can get him at [email protected] and tell him Caver sent you.
