CJ Vibration

Noticed that Lirpasues CJ5 had a vibration problem Saturday. I didn't notice it Friday when I drove it. It seems to vibrate when the clutch is let out, not when depressed. I can feel it from about 1800 to 2500rpm. At highway speeds I can't feel it. I can see and feel the steering wheel vibrate, doesn't seem to be anywhere else. Lirpasue swears she hasn't been rock-crawling any curbs or anything....lol, and I couldn't see any wheel weights missing. I'm thinking clutch....any other ideas????

Re: CJ Vibration

U-joints? Slip splines worn on DS? Mud stuck to inside of the rims? (played hell driving mine back from Boone last week with a few clods "hidden" in there )

Re: CJ Vibration

Could be u-joints....they probably need changing regardless. Not mud, it hasn't been in any lately. We were up in Boone last weekend too....just looking around for the day, thought about stopping to see if you were at the Jeepster thing....but didn't.

Re: CJ Vibration

Without driving it myself, no way to say for sure, but my money would be on a clutch issue. Just a gut feeling though!

Re: CJ Vibration

Well, I was in Ohio again this weekend and drove the jeep some more....here's the update. The jeep now has slight vibration all the time. When I'm driving at highway speed I can feel it. When I let off the gas, I get major vibration through the gas pedal for a second or two and then it goes away. If I give it gas, I get the vibration again for a second or two. The vibration seems to happen this way at all speeds but is alot more pronounced at about 2200RPM. I'm still thinking clutch.
