Carb Suggestion?

AMC 304 V8 bored .30 over with a rough idle cam,

What carb would be the best for this motor currently it has a 4 bl carter look a like on it and will not stay running and leaks on extreme angles..

I have been looking at the holley. Good or bad?

Experiences with certain carbs would be great..

Thanks Carter

Re: Carb Suggestion?

For a 304, my pick is the Holley 500 2V carb. They work extremely well offroad.

Re: Carb Suggestion?

For a 2 barrel, I'd say stick with the stock Motorcraft 2100. If a 4 barrel is a necessity because of your intake, I'd use a Quadrajet. Reviews of the Holley Off-road carb are favorable, but I can't personally vouch for it, and it sounds like that's what you are looking for. If budget permits, fuel injection. Howell has a nice TBI kit.

Re: Carb Suggestion?

The new holleys work quite well, they just made a carb with all the tricks wheelers have been doing to them for years. but the howell tbi is about the best fuel system out there for you, with alittle time on it the extra expense will pay for itself. better mpg, and reliability. good luck.
