Ford Explorer guys are stealing YJ Dana 30\'s.

Well, in a very funny state of events, I stumbled across this: D-30 Explorer Swap .

While we're busy swiping their rear axles, their stealing our fronts.

lol...

you'd think they try to get something beefier than a d30 though.....its not terribly weak...but certainly not tough enough for that size truck

What's sad is that it's stronger than what they started with!

Re: Ford Explorer guys are stealing YJ Dana 30\'s.

Well, I got two rigs with the Ford TTB front end. The '95 Fullsize Bronco and my '95 Ranger. The Ranger has pretty well the same front end as an Explorer. However, I don't worry about exploding it much with the 4 cyl! The only problems I ever had with that front end were water related (well, that and idiot owner related!). Ford uses a very short vent hose without a check valve. I got water in it during a water crossing and like an idiot thought that since it was relatively new that no water would have gotten into it! That one cost me about $200. Water will also get into the wheelbearings on it relatively easy. In short, I've been through the front end a couple of times now, and know quite a bit about it! Personally though I love the thought of a straight axle conversion. With up to 33's I don't think the YJ D30 would be too weak--especially if not stump-jumping or rock crawling!

Those Exploder guys are SOOO stuck in the 90's... Give them another 5 years and they might be looking for 44's, 60's, and 14 bolts. Until then I'll gladly sell them any Dana 30 they want at $250 a pop to finance my own upgrades.

Shh, don't tell them about the better axles yet! I still need to upgrade!
