goodgoodgood vibrations...update again

She is fixed runs good and true again...atleast for now.

I have a vibration seems to be in the driveline to me between 2800 and 3100 rpms. Don't know what it could be it started after I had to take a hard corner the other day. Anyone with an idea as to what to check?

Re: Not good good good vibrations/some help?

First place to look is motor and transmission mounts. While you're under there check all suspension nuts and bolts for tightness. Did you hit anything in executing your turn? Does the vibration come in at the same road speed regardless of what gear you're in, or does it occur around 3000 in every gear?

[/ QUOTE ]1. Hummm... I'd first look at tire balance,
2. Hard cornering can be a death sentence for wheel weights,
3. As the sidewalls severely deform and,
4. Pop-off the wheel weights.

Re: Not good good good vibrations/some help?

LEVE wouldn't a wheel weight being lost cause a problem at speed not at a specific rpm range in every gear?

[/ QUOTE ]1. John, logic says yes.
2. However it depends upon if the wheel weight is[*]gone [*]bumped around a rim a bit.[*]Vibration doesn't necessarily follow RPM
3. It could also be a problem [*] With belts broke (also unlikely)...[*] Of stretched or tearing sub-layers
4. There is a huge difference between statically and dynamically balancing a tire.
5. What doesn't seem to show up at 1000 RPM's may show up at 1600 RPM's.
6. By rotating tires, the symptoms should change,
7. That's an easy way to tell.

Re: Not good good good vibrations/some help?

Does it only vibrate while moving, or does it also do it at idle?

Re: Not good good good vibrations/some help?

Still could be a broken motor mount. Less likely - Engine-driven fan with a blade knocked off? Bent water pump shaft? A cylinder that's dropping out at high engine speed?

Does it come in suddenly, or gradually change from slight to severe as engine speed increases? Can you rev the engine high enough that it goes away again?
