No,
But at the Badlands Bash, some towed with xj's Ford Explorers and even an Astro van. So I dont think you would have to much trouble. I've always thought to be safe you should be using a heavier duty tow vehicle (3/4ton or higher).

I tow with my ranger. No i dont go through the mountains with it, but if it was V8 powered i wouldnt think twice. I have towed with blazers to 1tons with diesiels. Yeh the 1ton diesels make it much easier. But a 305 is more the capable of doing it. You just have to take you time and slow down. In the old days, they towed with flat heads, so just think of it that way.

I guess my biggest concern would be stopping over power. MAKE SURE you have a good brake controller and reliable trailer brakes. I have pulled bobcats (5k-7k lbs) without trailer brakes and it isnt fun.

Re: Towing with a chevy 1500 305ci

I tow my Jeep/car trailer combo with a Dodge 1500/318. I can pull all day long in 4th gear. Gas milage ain't all that bad either. I pull it up to the South Dakota Black Hills and don't have any time. I do have to slow down to 45 mph and 3rd gear to make it up some hills, but it gets me there. I do need to put in an aftermarket helper spring set so my pickup won't sag so baddly.
