Could TJ Bumpers Fit a YJ

Just wondering if a TJ's stock bumpers, both front and rear, could fit on a YJ? By looking at pics I can't figure out where the attachment points are. I noticed that the Jeep piece inbetween the front bumper and grille slants on TJ's, but is flat on a YJ. I wonder if that would cause problems?

Anyone else prefer the TJ over the YJ bumper? I'm not all that interested in tubular bumpers so I thought it might be worth checkin out. I think the two look very different, maybe I'm just crazy?

Re: Could TJ Bumpers Fit a YJ

Best thing to do is measure the bolt pattern at your local jeep dealer, go on a Sunday, so no one tries to sell you on a new one. I have seen a TJ bumper on a CJ, and it fit, but not very well, the mouth of it was too small and it had to be kind of bowed to fit, didn't look too cool, so measure that part too. Good luck, If you don't like tubular, there are tons of different types, and hey find a local shop and they can make you one cheaper than in the catalogs sometimes. Good luck with it!

Anyhing will fit given you have determination and the proper tools i.e. plasma cutter, welder...you know how that list goes.

the rear will bolt right on

you can bolt the front on with 1 bolt going into the top of each frame-rail, but its not too secure. i only put them on my brothers jeep temporarily while i built some bumpers.

No TJ bumpers will not fit a YJ if you are talking about front the TJ is a little wider. But they will fit if you use Really big hammer!!

Hehe, everyone and their technicalities. I don't exactly have the tools to modify the front bumper like some are suggesting.

I'll consider trying to find a rear TJ bumper and maybe a tubular front bumper. I wonder if I'd be able to salvage a rear bumper from a junk yard... I'll check Ebay too.

Too bad your not in Wisconsin. I have a factory TJ rear bumper in my garage that I have been trying to give away and nobody seems to want it. Nothing wrong with it at all. I hate to throw it out because as soon as I do, someone will need it.
