? about tie rod adjustment sleeve

Hey everyone. I've spent the past day on my back in the garage, tidying up various odds and ends that were left over from my lift install a month or two ago. This included removing the track bars, which were just hanging up and out of the way, and removing the sway bar, which was also just hanging down.

While doing this, I noticed something - the handle looking thing (it almost looks like a handle for a water spigot) that rests in the tie rod adjustment sleeve had bent up and come free, and was just riding on the tie rod - is this anything i should be concerned about? what does that handle do?

Thanks,
Pablo

Sorry, I don't have a YJ, so I'm not sure what you are describing. Do you have a steering stabilizer? Is it part of the mount for it? How is this mystery item mounted?

Here's a rough picture I scanned out of my service manual. It's item #10 - anybody?

you can see the handle on top of the adjustment sleeve. Thanks.

Someone with a YJ should have the answer. It looks like it spans between the clamps.

That little piece of metal is there to keep the claps in alignment. It attaches to one side only and lies between the clap on the other. you probably hit it on something and bent it out of shape. If the tie rod is straight no foul alls well.
