Finally building a cage. Is mild steel ok?

I talked with a shop yesterday about building me a cage. Based on the vehicles they had they do great work and their welds looked flawless. They are a Baja building shop and it looks like they only do race type vehicles. When I asked what material they would use the owner said mild steel. He said that cro-moly would only be worth it if I was building a frame. He said mild steel would be good enough for a roll cage. I did a search on mild steel and did not find anything that related to tubing material. So is mild steel good enough for a cage?

Mild Steel is also far easier to weld IMO. Ask anybody that's worked on Cro-moly tubing on an aircraft fuselage.

Luckily I will not be welding it myself. TheBaja Shop in Orange does some great things with cro-moly. The frames they have there are incredible. Thanks.
