A different roll cage question

There are plenty of posts on roll cages and I have decided on one for my 84 CJ-7. However, if I add a rear hoop for the passengers, will a standard 84 soft top still fold properly? I have not seen anyone with a cage and soft top hardware. Would a top from a 94-97 need to be used, and would it fit?

Re: A different roll cage question

Here is a shot of my homemade cage. You can see the frame for my Bestop super top attached. The top fits (hard top too) but I just don't think you can put a bar in the back and still have the top fold down. I just unbolt the frame when I take off the soft top. Hope this helps.

Re: A different roll cage question

The cage looks great! I also have an '84 and am looking at a cage. I like the design and will probably have it copied for my Jeep before it becomes my little girls first vehicle(In about 5 years!) My only question is whether you have hard doors on this Jeep, and if that makes a difference with this cage.
