Wanted: Metal CJ Wiper Motor Cover...

Does anyone have one of the older style CJ metal wiper motor covers? It doesn't matter what color, just needs to be rust free and repaintable. I am pulling my padded dash and need a cover for the wiper motor.

Thanks,
Tom

When you say older, how old are you talking? I have the one off my `72, if that would work for you.

I don't know how old will work. Does a '72 CJ have the wiper motor in the lower driver's side windshield frame? Does the cover attach to the VIN plate?

The cover is item #21 in this pic:

Thanks,
Tom

It appears that your cover is on the inside, correct? The `72 mounts on the outside of the windshield. So I
don`t think the one I have will work.

Re: Wanted: Metal CJ Wiper Motor Cover...

I ran into this problem when I pulled my dash. To the best of my knowledge, the wiper motor was originally either exposed, or covered with a plastic cover. I resolved the same issue with 4wd's Stainless steel cover. It's pricey, but a nice solid product. Check out their site for this alternative.

Hey CJ_More

That is the cover I need. It came standard on some CJs. I would prefer a CJ original, because I want to paint it to match my dash. I don't have any chrome or stainless on my CJ7. Anyone else got one?

Thanks,
Tom

I understand the color matching quest. I was unable to do it, so this is the only "Chome" looking piece on my whole Jeep. It is stainless steel, so you could rough it up and paint it. 4WD has another cover, but I believe it's black plastic. It's part #5756806 for like $20.00.

The only place I could find a stock cover was on Ebay. I see them on Ebay every couple of months. You are looking for a cover for years 76-86. If you can't wait, I would paint a stainless cover.

Hehehehe...I had the same issue. My wiper cover is the only shiny part on the inside of my CJ as well. I looked all over for a "non-shiny" one and gave up and got the stainless one.

Re: Wanted: Metal CJ Wiper Motor Cover...

Tom, I have one from my '78 in near-perfect condition. I was planning to use it when I put the wipers back on, but since I have a lot of stainless already, I could just as well use a stainless cover. Want to swap? I have no idea how much a stainless cover is.
