258 I6 Fuel Filter Options

I have an 86 CJ7 258 I6. The gas filter is stock and has one inlet and two outlets. One to the carb and I assume the other goes back to the gas tank. I am cleaning up the engine bay and I wanted to install a single line in-line filter.

What problems would I incur if I went to a single line filter? I have removed all emissions, completed the Nutter Bypass etc.

Thanks Bob

1. You're correct about the filter,
2. Use the return line filter.
3. It prevents over pressurization of the carb.
