How to keep lights off after doors removed from TJ

I searched and couldn't find an answer to this. My son just got a 2001 TJ and if he pulls the doors off the interior light will stay on. So what do you guy's do about this?

Not 100% sure on the TJ, but on the YJ there is a little plug by the hinges where 2 wires plug in. One is for the buzzer, one is for the lights. Unplug the wire, the lights do not come on.

Good luck

There is a fuse for the dome light that you pull out. They will still work with the switch but stay off when the doors are off.

Re: How to keep lights off after doors removed from TJ

I used a small peice of metal. The section of a steel banding material about 3/4" long drilled a hole in one end 1/8". Used the screw that attaches the button to the body by passing it through the hole and back into the button. The metal tab hangs down when doors are on and when doors are off. I push the button in and flip the tap over the top of it. Holds the button in and lights are off works great.

In my '97 tj there's a fuse behind the glove box you pull out... on mine it's the lower right hand fuse, labeled 'Door SW Defeat'. Just pull that and keep it in the ash tray (unless you use the ash tray for cigs...
